Profile


I, Advocate Md. Ershadul Karim, a member of Bangladesh Bar Council, am a non-practicing lawyer of Bangladesh Supreme Court. I have been working as Senior Research Officer in the Chancery Research and Consultants Trust (CRC-Trust), which established the Technical Support Secretariat of United Nations Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Person (TSS-UNSRT) and also the Editor of the Chancery Law Chronicles [www.clcbd.org], which is the first Bangladesh Online Case Law Database.

I have completed my LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. from the University of Dhaka in 2000 and 2001 respectively and thereafter joined Eastern University as Faculty Member and served there for almost four years as Teaching Assistant, Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law.

I have worked in different projects commissioned by Bangladesh Government, Ford Foundation, CIDA, World Bank Groups, UNDP, JICA, IOM, European Union, etc. Very recently, I have worked for Kyoto Comparative Law Center, Japan and was in charge of nine Asian countries including India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei, Laos PDR, Indonesia and Malaysia on Intellectual Property Law and State Compensation Law. I am now working as Translator and Team Member of Translation of Bangladesh Code [compilation of all Bangladeshi Law in Bengali and English from the year 1836-2008]. I am also teaching International Human Rights Law and International Water Resources Law in South East University, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Being a member of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh, I have written on Doctor’s Negligence, Right to Privacy, Health as a Human Rights, Civil Litigation and NGOs and Human Rights in Bangladesh. My areas of interest include health care law, information technology law, legal research, media law, maritime law, corporate law, Legal drafting and translation of Bangladeshi Laws.
